Migration and reinstall
How to import another server, change the base software, or reinstall safely.
The settings menu brings together SFTP details, server name and description, base software selection, importing, and reinstalling. Some actions can replace or delete files.
SFTP details
Use the address, port, and username shown in the panel with an SFTP client. The password is normally the same one used to access the Game Panel. Never publish these details.
Name and description
The name and description help identify a server inside your account. Changing them does not automatically change the player address or the name displayed inside Minecraft.
Changing the base software
The base software selector switches the installation type between compatible options available in the panel. Before applying a change:
- create a backup;
- confirm plugin, mod, and configuration compatibility;
- stop the server;
- watch the next startup in the console.
Server importer
The importer transfers files from another host over SFTP or FTP. You will need:
- the source protocol;
- IP address or hostname and port;
- username and password;
- source folder;
- destination folder on the new server.
The server may remain stopped and locked until the import completes.
Recommended workflow
- Stop the old server so data does not change during transfer.
- Create backups on both the old and new servers.
- Enter temporary source credentials.
- Import into an empty folder first when possible.
- Verify files, permissions, and total size before starting.
- Change the password used for importing after completion.
The option to delete current destination files is destructive. Enable it only after verifying the backup and selected destination.
Reinstalling the server
A reinstall runs the selected software installer again and may delete or modify files. Use it to recover a broken installation or start over, not as the first troubleshooting step.
Before confirming, download a backup, save important settings, and verify that you selected the correct server. Do not close the page or try to start the server during the process.
